Fester's Quest is a video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System based on the 1960s television series The Addams Family.
While enjoying a night of drinking, Fester bears witness to an alien invasion and decides to take his 'blunderbuss' and save the city. Along the way, Fester gains new tools and weapons as well as clues to how to attack the alien mothership by fighting alien bosses as well as getting help from the various members of The Addams Family. Along his travels, Fester comes across other members of the Addams family that help him by giving him different weapons and items, these are: Thing, Wednesday, Gomez, Morticia, Grandmama, and Pugsley.
The game uses Blaster Master's overhead shooter engine. Fester must travel through the city sewers to reach areas that are otherwise inaccessible due to aboveground obstacles. He may enter certain buildings, which transform the game from its standard overhead view into a 3D mode of play. In most buildings, Fester encounters one of five enormous Alien Boss characters, which upon defeat will supply him with a puzzle piece, a picture of the alien's UFO, and refill all of his items. After defeating a boss, Fester will leave the building and be unable to backtrack to previously visited areas. And the Verdict is...
This is Nintendo's marmite! You either love it, or hate it!. I personally had this game when i was a nipper, and back then you just got stuck in and got on with it, iv'e always regarded this game as a good one, there's loads to explore, different styles of gameplay and quite a large game for an 8-Bit cart. People do say that its too difficult and that it can be misleading on what to do and where to go.. This is true to an extent, but for me, when you finally complete the sucker, it tastes ooh so sweeter!. My opinion... Good game. |
